Inks over George Byrne's Lost Gen

Hey there, folks!

So, long story short (now that I think about it, I'll probably post the longer story on my journal one of these days), I managed to get my hands on a color printer for the first time in 8 or 9 years and, of course, I NEEDED to ink someone else's pencils. My first thought was John Byrne, since he has a huge gallery online and is one of my all time favourite artists and influences.

So, I got to his web page (www.byrnerobotics.com/home.asp…, saw Thor in one of the thumbs, downloaded it, googled a tutorial to turn the pencils blue, printed the thing and got started with it.

In other words, it was my first time inking over non-repro blue, and I didn't stop to check if it was a fully pencilled page or more loose layouts.

In other words, it was insanely hard.

In all seriousness, though, I probably learned more inking this page than with any other one I've worked before. It really makes you appreciate guys like Al Migrom (whom I believe ended up inking this one for print), Bob Wiacek, Terry Austin and a huge et cetera. At the same time, it makes me sad that this step in the process doesn't get the respect it deserves.

Anyway, notting much to say about this one: I managed to screw up each and everyone's hair, my texture work sucks, and I still can't find a decent brush in this goddamn country of mine... Other than that, the proportions are a bit off because of the rush to get started and my lack of experience printing the page.

By the way, when I went back to check out the number of the issue, I couldn't find it anywhere (on the original said "Lost Gen 5/8 Pg *alpha symbol"). if any of you recognizes it and wants to let me know, it'd be great.

Also, I'm posting this as Fan Art, beacuse I don't really know how I should post it (wanna give me a hint, inkers?), and this was done/posted exclusively for education and to show my 'skills' as an inker. I don't really know if posting this is illegal, but, if it is, dear Marvel and/or Mr Byrne, please let me know and I'll kindly take it out. You can sue me if you want, but I don't have a penny, so it's probably better if you just let me know.

Finally, I want to take a second to thank Mr John Byrne for posting these pencil scans. Again, one of the best challenges of my professional life.
